Gender aspect of communicative dominance (of the English-language interview discourse)
Abstract
The article is devoted to the analysis of the linguistic and cultural continuum of the word «avitaminosis» in the modern Russian language as part of the key idea of «Winter» in the Russian language picture of the world. The goal is an overall study of alexical item continuum «avitaminosis», namely: tracking the appearance of this borrowing in the Russian language (etymology and history of the word), the description of modern semantics, study of word formation of the forming word and the derived stems, which differby subtle shades of lexical meaning. Functional speech continuum helped to identify the compatibility of the studied lexical item with other words and to build an ordered list of the lexical series of diagrams that characterize the co-occurrence properties of the studied word. Contexts analysis identifies the following conceptual positions in the use of the lexical item: the disease and the different strength of the extent of its exposure; the consequences of the disease; the temporal duration of the disease state; the relationship with environmental conditions; neglect of health; causes of disease; the relationship of material life conditions and health; treatment of diseases; age-related characteristics of human disease; characteristics of animal diseases; effect of the disease on the emotional state of a person; the means of artistic expression of speech. The subject of the research is the linguistic representation and semantic interpretation of the concept «avitaminosis» as a component of the concept sphere «Winter» in the Russian language. Mentality and culture of the Russian people are reflected in the semantic content of the concept under study, which is confirmed by the active use of this word in both direct and figurative meaning in scientific, artistic and journalistic texts. The analyzed materials allowed to trace the change of the contextual meaning of the word depending on the speech situation of use for a long period of time. The study showed that the lexical item «avitaminosis» has successfully adapted to the modern Russian language and increases its meaning depending on the contextual situation of use.
