La Bretagne Linguistique (May 1993)
Présentation des hebdomadaires de langue galloise
Abstract
This article provides a brief overview of the Welsh language from the advent of modernity to the present day. The development of the Welsh language press and its three leading weekly newspapers, Y Faner, Y Cymro and Golwg, are discussed. The rich Welsh literary tradition has led to the establishment of a supra-oral standard, but one that is often detached from the language used in the popular sphere.
