Motor cognitive risk (MCR) syndrome is closely linked to cognitive impairment, with slow gait speed and self-reported cognitive decline often serving as independent predictors of such impairment. Presently, there is a paucity of research on the relationship between MCR syndrome and cognitive impairment in China. This review delineates the diagnosis and classification of MCR syndrome, its epidemiology, influencing factors, and the correlation with cognitive impairment. The aim is to provide a comprehensive understanding that can guide early prevention strategies for cognitive impairment in the future.
