Abstract

In Kanniyakumari, the Church art and architecture of the Christian faith has the presence of Gothic style in general. In the region, it has been greatly influenced by those of the western nations and has been influenced by the artistic and architectural traditions of the western culture and tradition. Altars, statues, pulpits, crosses, bells and belfries of churches along with other household items are among the many things that form part of the sacred art of the Indian churches. The style of the church was most patronized and is generally referred to as British style which includes Neo-Gothic and Gothic Revival architecture. This paper seeks to highlight the uniqueness of gothic architecture found in the Church Our Lady of Ransom in Kanniyakumari.
