An epigraphic contribution to the study o f the magic action: the tabellae defixionum

Abstract

This article studies some Latin inscriptions called tabellae defixionum in the Ancient Roman world. Historians like Livy and Tacitus mention curse rituals and the epigraphic sources demonstrate their diffusion among different social levels.
