"Animal Style" Objects of Ananyino Period on the Territory of the European Northeast
Abstract
The article deals with the general features of primitive art objects on the territory of the European North-east, dating back to the Ananyino period of the Early Iron Age. The main categories of items made in the "animal style" are described and a detailed description of various groups of images is given. Chronologically they belong to two groups, unevenly represented quantitatively. A smaller part of them dates back to the first half of the I millennium BC. Most of the images belong to the middle – second half of I millennium BC. The collection of primitive art objects in the region is characterized primarily by depictions of predatory animals and birds, griffins, polymorphic images. There are features that unite different groups of items. Most of the objects belong to the Ananyino "animal style" in the art of the population of the Ural forest zone. The same images are presented, the technique of making objects is similar, the depiction and decoration of various parts of animals and birds figures are of similar techniques. The spread of the Ananyino "animal style" images in the European North-east is associated with a powerful cultural impulse from the territory of the Volga-Kama region in the middle of the I millennium BC. The Trans-Ural elements are clearly traced in the art of the population of the Pechora River basin.
