Economic structural change and employment in Vietnam: A Granger causality approach

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between economic structural transformation and employment in Vietnam. Based on analyzing statistical data on economic structure and employment of 35 provinces across the country in the 1998-2013 periodusing the Granger causality method, the results show that economic structural change has a positive impact on employment. On the other hand, employment only has a minor influence on economic structural transformation.
