“Portraît de Nadia Boulanger”, for voice and piano, was composed in 1972 by Almeida Prado (1943-2010) as a tribute to his teacher during his musical improvement period in France, which lasted from 1969 to 1973. This article aims to analyse this piece. As a methodology, each of the ten movements will be analyzed separately, seeking to unveil theirs own characteristics. As a final result, it is clear that, although the movements were composed with different musical techniques and materials, there are elements that connect them, such as the use of the same harmonic material; the structuring by rotations of a dodecaphonic series; the exploration of sound/musical material with emphasis on resonances and timbres, among others. The elevance of this article occurs because, due to the period in which the piece was written, it is possible to perceive the transience in Almeida Prado's compositional techniques and, in this way, to contribute to a better understanding of his stylistic development as a composer.
