In the years 2016 and 2017 fieldpopulations of the chamomile weevil (Microplontus rugulosus auct. = M. melanostigma) have been investigated in chamomile fields in Thuringia. Occurrence of the pest insects during the vegetational period and their infestation levels were assessed. In field trials first control strategies using conventional methods were tested. Microplontus rugulosus was highly abundant in the chamomile fields and reached high infestation levels. The tested control strategies could cause a reduction, but do not offer a sustainable solution, due to limited efficacy.
