Semiconducting thin films of tin selenide (SnSe) were chemically synthesized at room temperature by varying two different pH. X-ray diffraction data revealed that the crystallinity of SnSe films prepared at pH 11.0 slightly increased. XRD patterns of SnSe showed polycrystalline nature. The optical properties of the films were studied in the wavelength range of 0.36-1.10 μm. Optical absorption studies show that the pH has no effect on the band gap energy of the grown SnSe films; hence, the band gap remains the same as pH increases from 10.0 to 11.0.
