Man of the future, oyster and hermaphrodite: Two notes on the history of Decadence

Abstract

The paper suggests some unnoticed contexts of the well-known study “L. Tolstoy and Dostoevsky” by Dmitry Merezhkovsky. Also it represents archival materials on the history of early Russian modernism, that deal with basic ideological themes of modernist culture.
