Masculinidades enfrentadas en el cine LGTB español de los años 80 y 90: El "nuevo hombre" Vs. El "monstruo" / A Confrontation of Masculinities in the Spanish LGBT Cinema of the 80s and 90s: The «New Man» vs. «The Monster»
Abstract
Resumen El objetivo principal de este trabajo es enfatizar y visibilizar las adaptaciones y modificaciones que han tenido lugar en el seno de la masculinidad en las décadas de los años ochenta y noventa en las producciones del cine LGTB español. De acuerdo con esto se tratará de profundizar en la manera en que la masculinidad es habitualmente representada en esta cinematografía recurriendo al binarismo formado por una masculinidad tóxica y monstruosa y otra más tolerante y sensible, encarnada por el «nuevo hombre». Este arquetipo representa una «nueva masculinidad» que se presenta a sí misma como una versión dulcificada y pacífica en comparación a su contraparte tóxica, pero que a pesar de esto continúa ostentando grandes privilegios patriarcales. Abstract The aim of this text is to prove and to demonstrate the adaptations and modifications that have taken place within masculinity during the decades studied. It will highlight the way in which masculinity is constantly represented through a duality between a toxic monstrous man and a more tolerant figure incarnated by the «new man». This archetype represents a new masculinity that presents himself as a measured and less hostile version in comparison with the toxic masculinity, but in the end, he still enjoys most of the guarantees provided by patriarchal system and male privilege.
