The article is devoted to the problem of empirical research of social maturity. The author conducted a study aimed at identifying gender differences in assessing social maturity. Besides, differences in assessing social self-determination of those respondents who have a job and unemployed are mentioned. Methods, based on the complex program of A.B. Kupreychenko program and L.M. Smirnov’s methodology “Basic values and antivalues of Russians”, were used for selecting empirical material. As a result of the study, it was concluded that there are reliable sex differences in assessing values and antivalues (women are characterized by positive values in the field of interpersonal interaction, while men are characterized by the values of power and prestige, as well as such anti- values as “cruelty”, “revenge”, “lack of spirituality”, “debauchery” are more acceptable “). Significant differences were also revealed between working and non-working respondents in assessing the present and future social status, economic status and personal maturity.
