Aging is a natural process that affects all subjects. Thus, it is described as a dynamic phenomenon, continuous and not reversible, associated with biological, psychological and social aspects. This article aimed to investigate the relationship between self - efficacy and physical activity in elderly cognition. A systematic review of the literature was performed according to the PRISMA method. For this, the data collection was done by means of a survey of scientific productions, in Portuguese language, available in the SciELO database, adopting the following descriptors in different combinations: elderly, self-efficacy, physical activity and cognition. For the analysis of the data, 43 abstracts of the articles of the systematic review were used, which were read carefully, and their abstracts were separated and organized in a single corpus and were analyzed using the software IRaMuTeQ. Therefore, it was possible to verify that there is a significant relationship between self-efficacy and physical activity in the cognitive performance of the elderly, which can affect considerably the plasticity of the nervous system, the monitoring capacity, the modulation of cognition, emotion and behavior.
