INCREASING THE STANDARD OF LIVING OF SOVIET PEOPLE AS ONE OF THE MOST SIGNIFICANT RESULTS OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF SOVIET SOCIETY IN 1950-1960s
Abstract
In the post-Stalinist period, a new era was coming, which made the economy turn in the direction of the social problems of Soviet society. The country's leadership took urgent measures to raise the standard of living of the population. The Khrushchev "thaw" is characterized by real progress in the daily life of Soviet citizens. During the Khrushchev "thaw", the material wealth of the population of our country and the supply state of the Soviet people with durable goods significantly increased. A significant increase in the use of consumer goods meant important changes in the life of Soviet society. Consumption gradually resulted in a change in life stereotypes and values among a part of the population. In Soviet society during this period, the role of consumption as a positive factor in personal development was underestimated. Sociocultural transformations began with changes in the attitude of Soviet citizens to housing conditions. The author of the article shows how the very principle of the attitude of Soviet citizens to everyday life has changed, pays special attention to mass housing construction, which opened a new era - individual urban life. The Soviet family in a separate apartment before other Soviet institutions felt the taste of individual private life. The leap in the quality of living conditions was the most significant and important result of the development of Soviet society in the 50s and 60s.
