Library and information complex in the context of transformation of scientific communications: results of library science research
Abstract
The purpose of the article is to explore the main aspects and results of scientific research on the development of the library and information complex in the context of transformation of scientific communications. The methodology of the article is based on the application of general scientific (analysis, synthesis, generalization) and special (comparative, statistical, component) research methods, as well as principles of comprehensiveness, historicism, and objectivity, which ensured the achievement of the defined goal. The scientific novelty of the paper lies in the determining the theoretical, methodological, and applied foundations of the development of the library and information complex amidst the transformation of scientific communications, and in the generalization and revelation of the results of the scientific and applied research ofthe Institute of Library Science at V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine.Conclusions. The scientific and applied research conducted by the Institute of Library Science at V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine, titled "The library and information complex in the context of transformation of scientific communications", aimed to develop conceptual foundations for the strategic development of scientific libraries within the contemporary system of scientific communications; in creasing the efficiency of library and information activities, scientific and methodological support, and interaction of scientific libraries in the conditions of the transformation of scientific communications; optimizing the development and use of library and information resources in accordance with the recommendations of the European Union on intellectual propertyissues, ensuring the compliance of the personnel potential of libraries with the requirements of society in the conditions of digitalization, and the development of library science and practice. Theoretical, methodological, and applied developments were implemented at V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine and within the network of libraries of the scientific institutions of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, forming a powerful library and information complex. They were also utilized in the operations of leading scientific libraries of other departmental affiliation, as well as in the courses of educational disciplines of sector-specific higher education institutions.
