Media education of teachers in the context of William F. Ogburn’s concept of cultural delay

Mass media and the global computer network are the main dominants of the modern world. They shape a new model of life, and the reality generated by the media encourages the young generation to use information technologies freely, especially from mobile technologies, with which the students practically do not part. In view of the above, media education of future teachers and permanent training of active teachers in this area is a priority issue. The text reckons media education in the William F. Ogburn’s concept of cultural delay. A detailed analysis of the current educational standards of teachers regarding media aspects has been made. Also, examples of factors disturbing the development of the teaching profession are given.
