ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION IN ISRAEL

Abstract

It is recognized worldwide that the Environmental Education is part of a national strategy for guarding the quality of life and environment. In the last few years, too many efforts and budgets were invested to develop Environmental Edu- cation programs in the educational system in Israel, but the success of these programs and the level of the existing Envi- ronmental Literacy were not sufficiently examined. This paper provides an introduction for a research, that will be in- troduced later, which deals with the evaluation of an environmental education programs in primary schools in the edu- cational system in Israel.
