Study of therapeutic interaction with the qualitative content analysis (the fragment of psychotherapeutic session in Murray Bowen's approach)

Abstract

The article presents the results of the qualitative content-analysis of the ten minutes passage of psychotherapeutic session, which was conducted in M. Bowen's transgenerational approach. The system of descriptors was proposed — the particular number of the main semantic units or categories to describe client's and therapist's "actions" in their psychotherapeutic interaction. This system of descriptors was examined also by the number of experts of the field. Those main psychotherapist's and client's "actions" were charted on their interaction's "timeline", so the graphical image of the process was received. As a result, the therapeutic process is presented in its development. This allows to match the therapist's actions with client's actions dynamics and with her progress achieved in the session.
