Space of struggle and resistance: a brief analysis of the use of territory in the Community Quilombola Muquém of União dos Palmares/AL / Espaço de luta e resistência: uma breve análise do uso território na Comunidade Quilombola Muquém de União dos Palmares/AL

Abstract

In the period in which the transformations alter the elements and dynamics of the territory there is a fundamental importance of the understanding quilombola culture and its territorial formation. The objective of this study was to analyze the organizations that involve socioeconomic inequalities and territorial disputes. The methodology is structured by bibliographic studies with the theoretical support of ARAÚJO (2000) and RIBEIRO (2005) for the data collection. Empirical studies were carried out through field research to observe the object studied. An interview with an elderly resident was also carried out, to better detail the formation of the quilombola community Muquém. The results reveal that this community has problems of preservation of the culture, however there are still some artisans who still resist and produce the crafts. We conclude that the territorial formation of the quilombola Muquém community originated in an unequal way and that the lack of incentives and profitability causes a process of quitting and resistance, but with the possibility of being reversed.
