In India, opioid addiction is a serious emerging problem. Opioid substitution therapy (OST), particularly buprenorphine, has been shown to be very cost-effective and has significant evidence of reduced drug-related HIV risk behaviors, crime, and illegal opioid usage. Raising the standard of living and enhancing public health is one of the main goals of this therapy, with a special emphasis on the center’s efforts to promote harm reduction. However, incidents of reported patient abuse or misuse of these drugs frequently lead to unfavourable opinions of this crucial life-saving procedure. Therefore, the administration and government must move immediately to address the issue.
