Abstract

Is there such a thing as Euronoir? And if so, what would be its concept? Basing itself on a loosely defined corpus of Eastern European crime fiction from the past three decades — of which only a few are accessible to a French-speaking audience, in translation — this paper intends to question the notion of Euronoir. Where can one draw the Eastern border of European crime fiction? And what are the defining characteristics of Eastern European noir?
