MODERN TECHNOLOGY OF LACRIMAL PASSAGE RESTORATION IN DACRYOSTENOSIS
Abstract
The authors reviewed 90 papers devoted to modern microinvasive methods of lacrimal pathway patency restoration in case of nasolacrimal duct partial obstruction. The authors describe long-standing and modern techniques of lacrimal passage recovery. The article evaluates the various systems for monoand bicanalicular intubation, analyses periods of stent exposition as well as the balloon dacryoplasty technique, its advantages and disadvantages. The authors conclude that the nasolacrimal duct intubation and balloon dacryoplasty are quite effective. Taking into consideration that they are minimally invasive and relatively safe, they can be widely applied in clinic, and in some cases, particularly in patients with concomitant somatic pathology, may be the method of choice. Further study of the described technologies with a determination of indications and contraindications for each specific surgical technique and experimental research is an important task.
