Marlene Streeruwitz is an Austrian author and representative of feminism. Her works are considered exemplary of a female poetics. Jessica, the main character of the novel Jessica 30., who is portrayed as a journalist in an agency, has taken the path of emancipation. She opposes male patriarchal rule and oppression, but above all against the degradation of women as a sexual object of male desire. Different spaces, such as the working world and the female body, are recognizable in the novel under study. Based on this, the present article focuses on the poetics of transgressive gender spaces and their fonction in Marlene Streeruwitz’s novel and aims to reveal their manifestations in the poetics of the Austrian author.
