The concept of antifiction has been used by theorists such as Lejeune and Alberca to explain the demand for non-fiction genres such as the diary and autobiography. The purpose of this study is to extend the concept of antifiction to aesthetic manifestations that define themselves as novels. Among these manifestations are some possibilities of autofiction, such as that practiced by Frenchman Hervé Guibert. Or that novel form developed by Brazilian author Ricardo Lísias, in which the essay on the present is categorized as a fictional genre. These two authors depart from diaries to elaborate their novels. The diary form, made into a novel and still retaining the account of reality, is a remarkable form of what might be defined as novelistic antifiction.
