Southern Gas Corridor as the instrument for the diversification of the gas import to the European Union

Abstract

The European Union has been consistently pursuing the diversification of gas import. Southern gas corridor is one of the instruments of this strategy. However, even in the long term its impact on the geographical expansion of the gas import to EU will be limited. The reasons are as following: uncertainty regarding the availability of volumes of gas for pipelines and behavior of the external actors - Turkmenistan, Iran.
