Concilier dictature totalitaire et tourisme. Le régime fasciste italien face à ses ambitions touristiques
Abstract
Fascist Italy has always encouraged tourism for economic and political reasons. Between 1929 and 1933, nevertheless, several reports reveal tourist fragilities and propose solutions to remedy them by improving its equipments and welcoming foreigners, while reconciling the whole with the constraints of the dictatorship. Borders controls, surveillance, the quality of the hotels, of the transport industry, or maintenance of tourist offices abroad attract particularly attention. Confronted with the comments of the travelers, these reports enable to understand the tourist deficiencies of the fascist regime, solutions to correct them, and their limits.
