Ribeira do Iguape Basin Morphogenesis and the Environmental Systems
Abstract
The relief of the basin of Ribeira do Iguape River presents very different geomorphologic macro-compartments. They correspond to the hills of the regional cim eira's surface, the hills strongly dissect of intermediate levels of Serra do Mar , the tectonic depression land of low Ribeira and the marine and fluvial coastal plains. The genesis of these relief landforms suffered influence from the Precambrian tectonics, in the Brazilian cycle phases, with overfolds and metapepsis, subjacent magmatism syntetonics, faults and fractures complexities, phases of meso-cenozoic tectonics reactivation, combined with past and today climatic activities, as well as with the oceanic ones. The effect of conjugated Tectonics,in addition to mechanical and chemical processes of water during millions of years defines contemporary relief morphologies and the environment systems of this basin
