Abstract
The main aim of this research is to analyze a holy spatial dimension in the context of the city of Recife – PE, during Nossa Senhora da Conceção Festival, in order to understand the role this religious Festival plays in the production and (re)organization of the space at Morro da Conceição starting from the sacred / profane relation. It’s important to emphasize that the religious festivals are cultural manifestations which have meaningful values for some social groups and still impress to the local where them happen, a different dynamic of the ordinary days reconfiguring the space starting from the profane. To develop this research was assumed the following methodological procedures: bibliography survey; observation in loco; application of question forms with devotees and visitors; and semi structure interviews with the festivals organizers and the citizens of Morro da Conceição. Subsequently, we sought to interrelate the data and the information collected to accomplish the analysis and the discussion in order to achieve the main objectives proposed in this research. Through this sacred spatial dynamic impression during the festival, it was possible to identify the sacred spaces; the direct and indirect profane spaces related to the sacred and the hybrid spaces, in addition to comprehend some meanings given to the festival and to the different spaces that make part of the participants devotional script of this religious event.
