Industrial endoscopes are devices that are intended for visual inspection of inaccessible spaces without disassembling parts or any destructive method. Industrial endoscopes use their own light source, strong enough to illuminate inaccessible spaces where there is no natural or artificial light. Endoscopes are used to inspect pipelines in steam boilers, central openings of turbines, condition of internal parts of generators, surfaces of gears in transmissions, surfaces of cylinders and damage to valves of engines and reciprocating compressors, pressure vessels, position of core transformers, condition of axial compressors, jet engines. In the case of assemblies and parts of modern motor vehicles, where, due to their compact structure, it is not possible to perform inspection and control without complex and expensive disassembly, the application of the endoscope simplifies and significantly lowers the cost of the procedure. Industrial endoscopy began to be applied as a method of control and inspection, with a certain amount of subjectivism. The hardware, and especially the software used in today's endoscopes, has enabled industrial endoscopy to become an exact measurement method. This allows industrial endoscopy to be included in the equal methods of a laboratory accredited according to the SRPS ISO IEC 17025:2017 standard. as repeatability and reproducibility criteria given in the series of standards SRPS ISO 5725:2007. A brief critical review in the application of existing standards, is presented. In conclusion, recommendations related to risk management are given.
