Perceção sobre os Conhecimentos, Habilidades/Competências e Aptidões dos Profissionais da Informação: uma comparação de realidades

Abstract

Information professionals' Knowledge, Abilities/Skills, Competencies and Aptitudes are concepts widely discussed in the literature, both in academic and professional references, and the term ‘information professional’ is not rarely used in the literature, in different ways. Despite the published works, there are differences between the concepts and their application, especially when analyzing works by authors from different countries and different approaches. The purpose of the ongoing research work is to find out if there are differences regarding the main Knowledge, Abilities/Skills, Competences and Aptitudes of information professionals, perceived either by Portuguese or Brazilian professionals, from the perspective of Information Science. This article presents a discussion of the main concepts related to information professionals, as well as a brief description of the research work that is intended to be carried out.
