LEUKEMIAS OF CHILDHOOD

Abstract

BACKGROUND Leukemia is the most common malignant disease of childhood. Authors describe new insights in etiology of development of leukemic clones and new classification of acute leukemias which is based on immunophenotypic and cytogenetic characteristics of leukemiccell. CONCLUSIONS The results of retrospective analysis of treatment of children with leukemia in Slovenia inthe period from 1967 to 2004 are presented as well as new trends in treatment and challenges in future leukemia research
