La saisonnalité des activités portuaires dans l’Occident romain sous le Haut-Empire

Abstract

Seasons have an influence on maritime activities. The aim of this study is to attempt to value the consequences on port activities. The sources are not numerous, however litterature and epigraphy still allow us to venture some hypotheses about the seasonal rhythms of the various port activities and the organisation of port professionnals implied by this phenomenon. Various factors must be taken into account and it appears that the situations may be different according to the considered ports.
