Impact of soil herbicides on weeds during pricking out Rosa canina L. seedlings

Abstract. During the period 2020-2021 the Institute for roses and aromatic plants – Kazanlak completed a field experiment on producing Rosa canina L. seedlings “Plovdiv 1” variety using herbicides. Herbicide efficiency and selectivity of flumioxazin (Pledge 50 WP) and pendimethalin (Stomp aqua) were tested. The soil herbicides were imported before pricking out Rosa canina L. seedlings. Results show that Pledge 50 WP is successfully fighting the annual species established in the experimental field (Amaranthus retroflexus L., Chenopodium album L., Polygonum aviculare L., Setaria glauca L.). Stomp aqua also shows very good results with annual weeds species leaving only 10% weeds density compared to the control. Treatment with these herbicides provides plants with healthy growing conditions for at least three months so that they can be permanently planted in autumn. No phytotoxic signs were apparent for Rosa canina L. seedlings during the whole experiment.
