The article discusses Polish-language units as the elements of the linguistic organization of the text of the detective retronovels by one of the contemporary Ukrainian writers - Andrii Kokotyukha. These units predominantly belong to a household sphere and are usually units of independent parts of the language, although occasionally minor words and exclamations, as well as phraseological references, are sometimes encountered. The author introduces polonisms, mainly, in the monologic and dialogical speech of the characters with the different stylistic purpose: to show the local flavor of then Lviv, to present the sensitivities of a character, his/her emotional state and so on. Author’s speech is characterized by low productivity of using Polish-language tokens - their use is a way to avoid repetition, diversify the author’s story, etc.The productivity and frequency of the use of the analyzed lexemes differs in different novels of the series - from a few words to a few dozen and depend directly on its main theme and the range of characters. Polish-language units of origin have a variety of paradigmatic relationships (synonimy, antonymy, homonymy, extension of the meaning or the word) and vary in degrees of adaptation in the Ukrainian language. Phonetic polonisms are one of the sources of replenishment of the dialectal dictionary of the Ukrainian language and serve as a means of linguistic characterization of an actor. The partial linguistic status of all the revealed facts of language allows to speak about actualization of mainly independent parts of language and only occasionally etiquette interjections.Polish-language elements in the texts of the Lviv series of the detective retronovels by A. Kokotyukha are the means to enrich the lexicon of the artistic style and often help readers to understand the context skillfully created by the author.
