Purpose. The article describes a model of the formation and development of linguistic concepts in students of grades 5-7 in the class of their native (Yakut) language in the process of bilingual education. The model can provide a qualitative assimilation of linguistic concepts, and become one of the means to achieve subject and meta-subject results in bilingual children. This model can become an effective pedagogical tool for teaching the native language relevant for use in the conditions of functioning of two state languages. Research methods. In conducting the research, methods of analyzing psychological, pedagogical and educational literature in the field of teaching the Russian and Yakut languages, monitoring the learning process of the native (Yakut) language of bilingual children, questioning teachers and students, and analyzing students’ work were used. Results. According to the results of the study, existing problems in the formation and development of linguistic concepts in the lessons of the native (Yakut) language were identified and the ways of their solution were determined. The theoretical foundations are described, the stages are described, methods and techniques for the formation and development of linguistic concepts in terms of the functioning of two state languages are given, and the conclusion is made that when organizing the process of teaching a native language, conducting purposeful work and using the model of forming and developing linguistic concepts can be improved the quality of teaching humanities. Practical implications. The research materials and the created recommendations on the formation and development of linguistic concepts in students of grades 5–7 can be introduced into the educational process of general educational organizations with the Yakut language of instruction, and can also be used by specialists in the development of teaching methods in Russian national schools.
