The “Educação e Cidadania” Project and school inclusion of young under assisted freedom
Abstract
This study aimed to investigate a public policy about the education of adolescents who have committed offenses in custody in a Provisional Admission Unit of Foundation Center for Socio-Educational Services for Adolescents – known as Fundação CASA, located in an Integrated Family Service Centre in the city of Americana. We sought to analyze and investigate the contributions of the project “Educação e Cidadania” to the inclusion in the school of the student who commited an offense. Therefore, we interviewed all the adolescents who participated in this project, were serving socio-educational measures of probation and had returned to school. Their teachers, colleagues, school employees and managers were also interviewed. The results pointed that students, after participating in the project, said they were more prepared for the exercise of citizenship. However, both students and educators have showed doubts about the effectiveness of the project as regards its contribution to educational inclusion. The evaluation of the project does not allowed us to point clearly whether he actually contributed to the permanence of those students in school.
