Los Pelusos or Libardo Mora Toro-EPL War Front? Perception of Ocaña and call for peace talks.

Abstract

The article is part of the research project entitled "Proposal for rural-urban territorial integration from the construction of the city-region of the municipality of Ocaña (Norte de Santander)" as part of the urban-rural relations of Catatumbo and the city of Ocaña; He focused on knowing what the perception of the city of Ocaña about the Popular Liberation Army –EPL- is and its position regarding the opening of peace talks. The methodology consists of a documentary review on the EPL and the dynamics of the Libardo Mora Front in the Catatumbo region. Regarding the perception of the citizens of Ocaña, 385 random surveys were applied to adults distributed in the communes, inquiring about the perception of the EPL, the viability of peace dialogues and the vision of Catatumbo in the future as a region in peace. The results were the recognition of the EPL as a guerrilla by the citizens, the need to open peace talks and the hope to build a peaceful Catatumbo. In conclusion, the need to open dialogues with this group is raised.
