EVOLUTION AND ACTUALIZATION OF THE CONCEPT OF«PUBLIC URBAN SPACE»

Abstract

In this study, we are looking for the most relevant approach to the concept of “public urban space” and examines tendencies in the evolution of both the definition itself and the research approach to its study. The research methodology presents an analysis of the historical process of understanding and defining the public urban space and an analytical comparison of typological concepts based on the interdisciplinary approach to the study of the public urban space. The study responds to the need to develop a theoretical basis for future practice based on an updated definition of public urban space that would most accurately reflect the modern context of public urban space creation and take into account further developments of this concept. The output of this research work an updated definition of public urban space and its typological scheme, their scientific substantiation and structured description of the evolutionary process of the notion of public urban space, both in theory and practice.
