Tsaatan Kalmyks: towards One Problem of Origin of the Ethnic Group and Ethymology of the Ethnonim

Abstract

The article is devoted to the problem of the origin of the Tsaatan ethnic group whose representatives live in Kalmykia and Mongolia. The basic versions of etymology of the name of this ethnic group are considered. It is shown that in the formation of Tsaatan Kalmyks Turkic ethnic groups took part.
