The Effect of Play Therapy Training with Filial Therapy Model on Behavioral Problems of Children and Resiliency of Deaf Mothers

The aim of this study was to investigate of the effect of play therapy training with filial therapy model on behavioral problems of children and resiliency of deaf mothers. This research was a semi-experimental study with pre-test, post-test design and control group. The participants were 30 deaf mothers from association of deaf family and center of deaf in Isfahan province that were selected by convenient sampling. The subjects were assigned to two experimental and control groups, each group consisting of 15 mothers. The experimental group participated at 8 sessions of play therapy training with filial therapy model, while the control group not received this program. The instruments were: the Achenbach & Rescorla Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL) of and Connor-Davidson Resiliency Scale. Multivariate analysis of covariance was used for analyzing the data. The results showed that play therapy training with filial therapy model had a significant effect on the behavioral problems of children and resiliency of deaf mothers (p < 0.001). Therefore, it was concluded that play therapy training with filial therapy model can improve behavioral problems of children and resiliency of deaf mothers.
