How is violence against women analyzed by Simone de Beauvoir in The Second Sex? What solutions does the writer offer? We will draw parallels with the descriptions of sexual harassment and rape described by Beauvoir in her memoirs of travel accounts. We will show how the philosopher shattered the myths of femininity, in connection with the racist stereotypes that she observed in 1947 in the United States. We will recall the Beauvoirian struggles for the achievement of gender equality in the 1970s, which made the author’s feminism a practical theory and not an ethereal one.
