Free standing organometallic dimethylammonium zinc formate perovskite for photonic and antimicrobial applications
Abstract
In this study, we have focused on the synthesis and analysis of a photoactive perovskite polymer composite film consisting of dimethylammonium zinc formate perovskite (DMAZF) as a crucial member of the metal-organic frameworks family, templated by polycarbonate. The characterization of DMAZF involved a comprehensive analysis using various techniques, including UV-VIS absorption spectra, Raman spectra, Fourier-transform infrared spectra, Z Scan, thermal analysis, frequency-dependent dielectric measurements, and nuclear magnetic resonance. The results of the characterizations revealed that the DMAZF composite film exhibits excellent crystallinity, promising thermodynamic capability for water splitting, desirable dielectric properties, nonlinear effects, and a remarkable surface response to adhering microorganisms, particularly against E. coli and S. aureus. The antibacterial activity was evaluated using the well diffusion method, confirming the material's potential as an antimicrobial agent. Moreover, Z scan studies have unveiled exciting technological applications of DMAZF, further enhancing its appeal as an emerging class of nanomaterial in nanotechnology.
