Clinical effect of tacrolimus combined with 308 nm excimer laser in the treatment of pedia-tric facial vitiligo
Abstract
Objective To study an effective, safe, painless theraphy which is easy accepted by patients and their parents for pediatric facial vitiligo. Methods A total of 98 cases (269 places) with vitiligo on the face in the dermatology clinics from two hospitals (Zhongshan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Shaoguan Dermatology Hospital) were observed from May 2017 to October 2020. Each hospital was an independent unit, numbered and grouped according to the order of visit time. These patients in the control group (131 skin lesions) was treated with excimer laser only twice a week, while those patients in the treatment group (138 skin lesions) was treated with excimer laser and external tacrolimus (twice a day). The efficacy and adverse reactions of the two groups of children were evaluated after 3 months of treatment. Results The total effective rate for patients in the treatment group was 92.03%, and the adverse reaction rate was 6.52%; while the total effective rate for patients in the control group was 79.39%, and the adverse reaction rate was 6.11%. The difference was statistically significant (χ2=8.85, P0.05). Conclusion Tacrolimus combined with 308 nm excimer laser in the treatment of facial vitiligo in children has the advantages of convenient operation, definite curative effect, safe and painless, and easy to be accepted by children and parents.
