Abstract

The article focuses on themes that transcend the socio-historical contexts of the people of the “eastern forests” throughout the 19th century. Intercutting specific empirical situations, the research sought to focus on more-than-human dimensions in the interpretation of events presented in historical and ethnographic sources. Composed of four parts, the work begins with a historical-ethnographic characterization of those people, followed by a brief theoretical-methodological argument that supports the analyzes on the historicity of the Borum based on categories of cosmological/warrior shamanism. Finally, taking a leap in time, the research finds the Krenak at the end of the 20th century in their demands for the recognition of their sacred territory populated by mythical beings.
