Effect of Cladding Currents on the Structure and Properties of Inconel 625 Coatings
Abstract
In order to improve the quality of cladding nickel-based alloy coating on the surface of alloy steel and study the influence of process parameters on the performance of nickel-based alloy coating,Inconel 625 coatings were prepared by plasma cladding technology.Microstructure morphology and phase composition of the coatings were studied by metallographic microscope and XRD,and the influence of the cladding currents on the corrosion resistance and wear resistance of the coatings was investigated by electrochemical methods, microhardness test, and friction and wear test. Results showed that the cladding current changed the microstructure morphology and the preferred tendency of the γ-Ni phase towards different crystal planes. When the cladding current was 80 A,a nickel-based alloy coating with fine microstructure, dense structure, and (111) crystal plane preferred growth was obtained;Compared with the coatings prepared under the conditions of cladding current of 60,70,and 90 A,this coating had the smallest corrosion tendency, the lowest corrosion rate, the largest passivation range, and excellent corrosion resistance. The microhardness value of Inconel 625 coating was significantly higher than that of the substrate. When the cladding current was 80 A,the microhardness value of the coating was the highest, approximately 1.89 times that of the substrate, indicating the best wear resistance.
