Abstract
This paper deals with developing a decision support model for Project Management Unit (PMU) as well as construction’s companies in evaluating and selecting the most qualified candidate for position of Project Manager by integration in Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method and Decision Support System (Expert Choice software). The first objective of this research is to study an overview construction’s project management body of knowledge and characteristics and responsibilities of Project Manager in project management process. In the next stage, the identification of the factors and criteria that should be considered in selection process will be carried out. Finally, a new prototype decision support model called CPMS (Construction’s Project Manager Selection) will be developed, tested and expanded based on the application of AHP. Futhermore, a sensitivity analysis can be performed to check the sensitivity of the final decisions to minor changes in judgments. It is strongly believed that the proposed prototype model-CPMS will provide more structured approach, save the time, reduce manpower resources, and supply formulating guidelines in evaluation and selection process of a Project Manager.
