Students’ Opinions About Elective Courses in Faculty of Fine Arts

Faculties of fine arts located at the undergraduate level of Turkish higher education system has about a hundred-year history. It is seen that they were formed by various schools during this period. After 2000, the Bologna process started and various structures were realized in these faculties. The elective course system aims to improve students' cognitive, social and emotional capacities in their own capacities and interests. At this point it is important to examine the situation of the existing elective course system and to identify possible deficiencies. The aim of this research is to determine the students’ opinions about elective courses in faculty of fine arts. For this aim, the survey was applied to the students and their opinions about the elective courses were asked. The result of examining the findings, it has been detected deficiencies in the numbers, content and quality of the elective courses and possible suggestions are indicated for the improvement of the existing system.
