LIGHT-ORIENTED NEMATIC LCD CELLS COVERED WITH ORIENTANT ON ONE SIDE

Abstract

A light-oriented LCD layer is proposed, which is restricted on one side by a surface with a coating that defines the surface angle of the director. The orientation layer of the LCD is adjustable from uniform, in accordance with the predetermined tilt angle of the director, to reoriented under external influence. Prospective applications of the new light-oriented nematic LCD layers are considered.
