Domitian and the provincial imperial cult: Imitation or imposition?

Abstract

The implantation of the imperial cult at provincial and local level was one of the keys of the process of adaptation of the imperial cult by the Flavian dynasty. In the present paper, we will analyze to what extent the similarities and differences between the central imperial cult and the provincial one in Domitian’s times could be direct consequences of a central imposition of a new standard of imperial cult
